This picture is of a man harvesting corn, which is the most widely populated new world food.

 

This is the plant which the corn is grown on and what the Indians taught the European Explorers how to grow.

 

Here is a bunch of different kinds of corn. They are all different sizes, flavors, and types.

 

This is a potato plant which is grown on the ground. The potatos are one of the most important new world foods.

 

This picture shows the Irish potato which served as the main food during the Irish Famine. These potatos kept millions of Irish from starving.

 

Christopher Columbus was the explorer who discovered a lot of the food from the new world.

 

This is a peanut plant which is grown from the ground and produces flowers also.

 

The picture on the left is a tomato plant with medium sized tomatos and the picture on the right has larger tomatos on it. Tomatos grow on vines, as shown in the pictures and are a very popular food in Italian cooking today.

 

This is a pumpkin plant with one pumpkin on a vine. Pumpkins are grown in patches on the ground.
